1. Flying Camera Drone – Batman’s Flying Eye
The story “The 1,001 Inventions of Batman” in 1957 says that a villain has duplicated one of the Batman’s devices, so Batman and Robin after going through all of them identifies which one is it. “Flying Eye,” an airborne, mobile drone that relays images of whatever it sees back to Batman. Later on AeroVironment with funding from Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) developed a spy plane as small as a hummingbird, which flies for eight minutes. Currently drones are used for unmanned air strikes.
2.The Lie Detector – Wonder Woman’s Lasso of truth
William Moulton Marston, who created the character Wonder Woman, developed a systolic blood pressure test. Suggested by his wife, emotion and blood pressure were connected and he found that people became confused while lying. Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth sensed and compelled the truth the same way Marston’s test did in the real world. Marston and Wonder Woman would later on lead to the invention of the modern lie detector by John Augustus Larson.
3. Prosthetic Robotic Limbs used in “Six Million Dollar Man”
In the “Six Million Dollar Man” television series based on “Cyborg” novel, when the test-pilot, Austin had the crash, the government decided to augment Austin with cybernetic parts which gave him enormous strength. Similarly, Luke Skywalker in Star Wars had a cybernetic hand installed to replace his lost hand after his dual with Darth Vader. The idea of being able to replace missing or damaged body parts with mechanical replacements was earlier a myth but became a reality now. Today cybernetics have become a standard aspect of modern medicine.

Rapid prototyping is an additive manufacturing technology, known as 3D printing. It begins with a design from CAD software. Once the 3D printing equipment interprets the CAD data , it lays down or “prints” consecutive layers of liquid, powder, or sheet material that build-up the 3D model from a series of cross sections. The fusion of the prototype layers that matches the virtual cross section from the CAD model generates the final product.
